Almost every serious artist I know (well *almost*) has some type of website – be it a personal site, for their business or a blog.
And for me, anyway, a site is always something you can be working on. There is always something to add or tweak or update – always.
Most likely you visit your fair share of websites for artists too. I know I do. And a lot of the features look the same – particularly those social media icons littered on every site. You know the icons – for FaceBook or Twitter or RSS or StumbleUpon or Digg, etc. etc. – anyway, you get the picture.
They seem to always be the same ones created with Adobe Illustrator with those clean, smooth and glowing edges.
Well, to my surprise, I found an icon set of “hand-drawn” ones or “Handycons” These are very cool and in my visual opinion – very fresh-looking. Of course, mostly because you don’t see them that often. Oh, and they’re also free!
It’s funny, anything with a “hand-drawn” look to it on a computer seems fresh to me. Just seems to add some life and personality. And helps to set you apart.
You often see it most prominently on the loooooooonnnnnngggggg internet sales letters where they are trying to pitch a product and it “appears” as if someone just wrote a quick note in the margins before sending it out.
I think there’s room for much more inventiveness and innovativeness with a personal “hand-drawn” look on the internet. I bet you can brainstorm a few ideas, too.
Again, check them out here: Handycons – a free, hand drawn social media icon set
Note: I just came upon them so I have not implemented them yet.

wow…. amazing information…
